Case Study

15 Appold street

TAP were employed to carry out a full design assessment of the existing MEPH services and to progress a full re-design of the re-stacked and architecturally re-designed office floors; this involved the design of a new 4th Floor Reception and 4th Floor Client Meeting Suite, as well as a new Ground Floor Kitchen and a la carte Atrium Restaurant. This required the design and coordination of a bespoke fire rated kitchen extract duct running throughout the existing building infrastructure without the need for externally visible ductwork.

Project Solutions / Achievements

  • The open plan office area at ground floor was completely refurbished and extended. To enhance penetration of daylight into the space, ceilings were omitted and all the services were installed in an exposed fashion with bespoke acoustic panels hung throughout.
  • A new Comms room was added to the 4th floor served by DX based downflow units, gas suppression system and UPS power back up.
  • The project required the reinforcing of the electrical distribution infrastructure, the extending of the main electrical switch room, the design and manufacture of new bespoke switchpanels and the creation of a new Computer Equipment Room, with the  provision for generator back-up to Essential and Life Safety Systems.
  • The design was carried out to be fully compliant with Part L sustainability and energy efficiency criteria, utilising low energy LED lighting and a Dali lighting control system, with the use of highly efficient mechanical ventilation and cooling systems.
